About DesiMap

DesiMap is a directory of Indian grocery stores across the United States.

Searching "Indian grocery near me" on Google Maps gets you a list of pins. It doesn't tell you which one stocks fresh curry leaves, which has a real mithai counter, which carries south Indian staples vs. north Indian, or which one is pure-veg or Jain.

That's the gap we're filling. A real directory with the filters that actually matter to people shopping for desi groceries.

How the data is built

We seed listings from open data sources (OpenStreetMap, chain store locators) and improve them with community submissions and owner edits. Every store has a "last verified" date.

What's next

• Regional and dietary filters (north / south / Jain / halal)
• Aisle-level tags (mithai, frozen, fresh produce, puja items)
• Community reviews and photos
• Owner-claimed listings
